Volkswagen
For Halloween, I partnered with creative collaborator Lenny (@lenny_motion) to reimagine Volkswagen's new Polo GTI as a Halloween transformation for Volkswagen's social channels. It draws on Stranger Things and Venom. The idea was simple and unsettling: a living, symbiote-like mass takes over the car, spreading and mixing into its surface until the Polo becomes something else entirely. I led the 3D, Franco added hand-crafted VFX and slime effects, and Lenny handled direction, compositing and the edit.
Symbiote
Transformation
The heart of the piece was making the symbiote feel alive. It doesn't just sit on the car. It moves with purpose, crawling across the hood, pooling into the body lines and wrapping around the Polo's shape until the two merge. The goal was a transformation that feels organic and hungry, with the thick, wet, layered texture you'd expect from something that shouldn't exist. I used Envato stock assets as displacement maps on the hood to complete this effect .
Process
This was a true three-way collaboration. I built and animated the symbiote in 3D, designing how it spreads, grips and changes the car. Franco layered in hand-crafted VFX and slime details to give it texture and grit on Lennys Arm. Lenny directed the piece and brought it all together in compositing and the edit, timing the transformation for maximum impact on a social feed. The result is a short, scroll-stopping Halloween moment built to grab attention fast.
At its core, this project was about giving Volkswagen a seasonal moment that felt bold, playful and unexpected. The Polo GTI is a car built with character, and Halloween gave us the perfect excuse to push that character somewhere darker. Blending CGI with hand-crafted VFX, we turned a clean product shot into a creature feature, made for the holiday and made to be shared.
