Puma

x Hyrox

This project continued my exploration of the intersection of AI and motion design — this time bringing that vision into the world of HYROX and Puma through a cinematic CGI lens.

AI-Generated

Athlete

One of the most compelling aspects of this project was building the athlete through AI — a figure that feels sweaty, powerful, and in motion. These AI-generated characters became vessels for energy and atmosphere rather than just visual filler, allowing the piece to feel lived-in and athletic without the cost of a full production shoot. The integration of AI wasn't about spectacle, it was about creative control. Using new technology to serve the vision rather than define it.

AI 3D

Models

There was no traditional 3D modeling for this project. Instead, I used Tripo.ai to generate the shoe and equipment model, by feeding it reference images of the Puma Deviate Nitro HYROX shoe and the Concept 2 SkiErg + RowErg to build out the assets. I've modeled a shoe AND hard surface product by hand before, and honestly, Ihave no interest doing that again — so that's exactly what AI is for. Once the models were generated, all compositing, pacing, and final editing were handled in After Effects. The story was shaped through rhythm, contrast, and restraint, letting the visuals lead rather than forcing structure.

At its core, this project was about honoring something personal — my love for HYROX, the grind of training, and the culture of the sport. HYROX represents discipline, grit, and pushing past what you think you're capable of. This visual interpretation translated those values into a cinematic format, blending AI and CGI to craft something that feels raw, athletic, and real. And right after wrapping this project, I drove to Miami and competed in my first HYROX Pro Doubles with my partner crossing the finish line under an hour and nine minutes. The project and the race felt like the same thing. Proof of work.
